10 Rookie Content Manager Mistakes I Made
Content management requires much more than just creating a timeline and posting content and I learned this the hard way.
Without much introduction and beating around the bush here are the 10 most important mistakes I made when I first started:
- Not discussing the future of the website with the employer
2. Not setting clear rules for the content writers and making sure everyone is following them
3. Trusting the writers too much and not double-checking if they are enforcing the formatting rules
4. Not setting strict deadlines
5. Not creating a strict content creation and publishing schedule and allowing to publish whatever content was ready at the moment
6. Not communicating clearly with the employer what are my next plans and ideas
7. Copying the competition
8. Not learning new things and following trends
9. Not doing enough research and writing the piece of content just because all competitors have it
10. Ignoring SEO, Google updates, on and off page optimization
I am ashamed and I cringe at my mistakes but had a true wake-up call 6 months after starting the job.
However, what I learned is that

This quote got me through the darkest period of my life when I thought that I ruined my career just by acting foolishly and ignoring everything and everyone. I was fortunate enough to save my job and my reputation and since then I double-check everything and read every single word before it gets published on the website.
